Crime victims Reparation Fund:
Assists victims of crime committed in Terrebonne Parish. The program allows reimbursement to victims for financial losses sustained because of a crime. Examples may include lost income, medical, funeral ad related expenses. Victim cannot have been a participant or have initiated the incident in which the crime occurred;D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education): Prevents abuse of drugs and deters addiction by education and positive role models. Young people are taught the dangers and results of peer pressure related to the illegal use of drugs. Available to students, grades K-6, in all public, private and parochial elementary schools;Hunter Safety Education: Teaches safe and responsible hunting practices: handling and cleaning firearms, the importance of survival and first aid, wildlife conservation and management. Class is required for any person born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 to obtain a license for hunting in Louisiana or any federal reserve. Ages 10 or older;Inmate Work Program:Helps defray cost of public property maintenance and offers inmates a sense of self-esteem;Neighborhood Watch: Keeping neighborhoods safe from suspicious activity;School Resource Officer:Prevents crime, deters drugs and helps deputies function as role models.
